Jelani Women Travel is excited to offer its first travel experience since the start of the pandemic. Ghana has recently opened its borders to international air travel and we are looking forward to experiencing Ghana within the guidelines of new parameters. Please note this trip will be a new way of traveling and staying healthy. You will be provided with face coverings as they are mandatory to wear in public spaces. 

Travelers arriving in Ghana by air must present a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test conducted by an accredited laboratory in the country of origin not more than 72 hours prior to departure.

Upon arrival, each traveler must undergo a COVID-19 test conducted at the airport. This test carries a $150 fee to be paid by the traveler, and results will generally be available within 30 minutes. Travelers who test negative for COVID-19 will be allowed to enter Ghana with no quarantine requirement. Those who test positive for COVID-19 will complete arrival procedures with the help of airport health officials before transfer to Ga East Municipal Hospital for clinical assessment and management.

Travelers exiting Ghana will undergo temperature screening prior to departure and will be required to comply with the COVID-19 testing requirements of their destination.
Ghana’s normal visa requirements are in effect.  

Upon payment of your deposit, there will be an option to purchase travel insurance through WeTravel. You do not have to use this particular company but travel insurance with a minimum coverage of $200,000 is mandatory.

: Remember to arrive in Accra (ACC) by 5PM on Dec 26, 2020 and depart anytime on Jan 2, 2021 for Ghana only. Currently Togo and Benin are not open to US Passport holders but that may change.  

Please note: There are non-stop flights from the US to Ghana including Delta Airlines. If you are connecting through another country, be sure to check with your airline to ensure the country will allow you as a US passport holder to transfer.

$0-$499 (non-refundable and non-transferable)

$500 and up is 100% refundable.      

Cancellations of confirmed bookings 60 days or less prior to trip start date will be subject to the following terms:

Visit the slave dungeons and the unforgettable Door of No Return to get a glimpse of the past and pay homage to our ancestors in our Returnee ceremony with the beautiful Cape Coast beach as our backdrop.

Go on a morning nature walk of the Kuntan Trail with its countless trees and experience the Canopy Walkway suspended 100 feet from the forest ground. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the esteemed Kakum National Park before heading back to Accra for shopping at the largest cultural and arts center.

The only thing better than eating delicious West African cuisine is learning how to cook it yourself. Take notes in our cooking class and save room for signature dishes like Jollof rice, red red, and kelewele. At night, prepare to celebrate NYE Ghanain style as we close 2020 out with a bang! Afrobeats everywhere!

Start the new year off in gratitude watching the sun rise on the beach or enjoy free time resting, more shopping, or getting finishing touches to your custom made African fashions. In the evening, join us for our farewell dinner for our last night in Ghana.

With a renewed sense of pride and discovery, pack your bags and head back home to share your experience with your community or journey onward to Togo and Benin for more passport stamps and fun. We will visit the famous Voodoo Market in Togo to observe the unique market items debunk negative stereotypes  and learn about some of the ancient traditions before stopping for an authentic Togolese lunch on the beach.

Travel the slave route and reach the final point that our enslaved ancestors were taken from in Benin as we make our way back to Accra, Ghana for your evening departure.
