  • Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum: designed by Don Arthur, houses the bodies of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife Fathia Nkrumah. The building is meant to represent an upside-down sword, which in Akan culture is a symbol of peace.

  • Independence Arch & Black Star Square: A powerful symbol of Ghana’s freedom and Pan-African unity. Snap some memorable photos here.

  • Arts & Cultural Center: Dive into a vibrant shopping experience and explore colorful stalls of fabrics, beads, and more.

  • Drumming Class: Learn the rhythmic heartbeat of Ghana during a drumming class led by a master percussionist. Feel the spirit of traditional music as you tap into the beats of West Africa.

Cape Coast Day Trip

  • Assin Manso Slave River: This solemn site was the final place enslaved Africans were allowed to bathe before enduring the harrowing march to the coast. As you walk barefoot on sacred ground and take part in remembrance rituals, you’ll reflect on the strength and resilience of those who came before. Guests are encouraged to wear all white as a sign of reverence and unity.

  • Cape Coast Castle & Elmina Slave Dungeons: Walk through the chilling chambers where millions were held before their forced departure. Reflect deeply at the Door of No Return, a haunting reminder of the transatlantic slave trade.

Room Occupancy

Trip price is based on double occupancy and priced per person. Individuals who purchase double occupancy and traveling without a roommate, will be paired with a roommate if available on a first come first serve basis. If a roommate is not available, you will be required to purchase the single occupancy supplement.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance covering all applicable dates of any travel with Jelani Travel is required. We strongly recommend that you purchase an additional comprehensive “cancel for any reason” insurance to the extent that such insurance is available under the laws governing your state.

Cancellation Policy

This trip is non-refundable and non-transferable

Payment Plan Policy

1. Three consecutive failures to pay scheduled installments will be subject to late fees up to $200, trip cancellation and loss of 100% of trip package price. 

2. Total balance must be paid at least 90 days prior to the trip start date, or be subject to late fees up to $200. 

3. If total balance is not received at least 60 days prior to the trip start date, the trip will be subject to cancellation and loss of 100% of trip package price.

1. Choose your package

Please note all packages are based on double occupancy and priced per person. If you want to lodge by yourself, you will need to first choose your package and then add the Single Occupancy Supplement. 

2. Create an account 

When checking out, you should check the box next to "Create an account to manage your booking online." This will allow you to edit, adjust your trip, and select additional options at a later date.

3. Processing fees 

When proceeding to payment, please note that there is no processing fee if you pay by ACH using your banking information. There is a processing fee if you choose to pay by credit or debit card.

4. Payment Plan

Each payment plan is set up for automatic payments on specific dates. You can call or email us after you register to adjust your payment dates in a way that works best for you. 

5. Questionnaire

Answer the short questionnaire required for every participant.

6. Confirmation email 

You will receive a confirmation email with your receipt, payment plan information, and the option to purchase travel insurance for this trip. We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance to protect your investment.

7. Store your account info and password

You can go back to your account any time to check your balance, pay it off, or add additional options.

  • Passport: Must have 6 months validity after date of arrival and enough blank pages for entry stamps. Confirm validity at travel.state.gov

  • Visa: Required for U.S. citizens. Apply early, as you need to mail your physical passport with your application and allow time for its return. Instructions will be provided approximately 90 days prior to departure.

  • Yellow Fever Vaccination: Mandatory for all travelers to have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate or records indicating their protection from yellow fever. An applicant who for medical reasons cannot obtain the vaccination certificate must submit a medical certificate from a doctor.
